Dear friends, with Cv-19 disrupting our travel plans, more people are seeking out ‘exotic’ locations in Singapore, for recreational activities like photography, cycling, picnics or simply to chill out. I am sure many of you would have seen postings on the social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram, showing this gorgeous location at Yishun Dam. Why not visit and chill out at Seletar Fishing Village, Singapore’s last fishing village.

Seletar Fishing Village location map.

For those driving, the best option is to drive to Rower’s Bay Park at Seletar Club Road and park your car along the quiet 2-lanes road. Parking is free at this location. Please refer attached link for public transportation details.
Ways of interpreting the scene

One of my favourite ways is to wait for sunset (about 1855hrs) and shoot during the golden hour. A 10-stop neutral density filter for blurring the water surface and 2-4 stops GND to reduce the skies highlight are needed.

Conveying the scene in black and white lends a tranquil archaic feel to the location.

Try including some fellow visitors to lend a scene of dimension and journalistic vibes.
Conclusion

For best results, more than one visit may be necessary. Refer to the weather and tidal forecast to assist you in your planning. The best time is during the evening, about an hour before sunset and during high tide. Have a great chill out at the Seletar Fishing Village.
